As the coronavirus continues to spread, its devastating effects are being felt around the world. Some regions have been particularly hard hit, especially in developing countries and low-income communities. Recent shutdowns are having a severely negative impact on many communities in Nicaragua, many of which are still recovering from economic hardship caused by political unrest during the summer of 2018.
Our nonprofit organization, Waves of Hope, is excited to be teaming up with our friends at Rise Up Kids with the common goal of making sure that people are nourished and looked after during this challenging time. We have recently made the difficult decision to suspend our monthly scholarship programs in order to divert funds towards providing the basic necessities to as many families as possible in the communities of Northern Nicaragua. Together we share the common goal of making sure that families have access to food, clean water, healthcare, emergency supplies and other essential items.
We realize that unemployment, financial instability, and food insecurity are currently being felt deeply by our global community, not just in Nicaragua. We know that these are challenging times and people are suffering everywhere. For those of you who find yourself in a position to give, we humbly ask you to consider making a donation to this collective between Waves of Hope and Rise Up Kids. No amount is too small – a $25 donation could provide a family with a week’s worth of food and basic necessities. We recently completed our first food package delivery to dozens of families in need and have been reminded of just how far how far a little generosity can go.
With your help, we will continue to provide a bit of relief and support to our surrounding communities in Northern Nicaragua.
Thank you from all of us at Waves of Hope and Rise Up Kids
